Hi there jammers of jamaa!
For this post I will be telling you my tips, tricks, and hints for different adventures!
(pictures will be added later)
1. The Forgotten Desert
The Forgotten Desert is my favorite adventure for many reasons, but does have some drawbacks! Only member eagles can play, and you are timed! 1 to 2 people get 17 minutes of time, and 3 to 4 people get only 15 minutes of time. I'd suggest you get 4 people in stead of 3, that way you can get more helpers for the same time. I'd also suggest you do this with at least one other person (preferably a buddy), as doing it by yourself won't get you too many prizes. Now for how to get each gem:
Green Gems: These are the easiest to get. There are 25 in all, and each gem gives you +3 experience. They are laying on top of the ground and water in various areas, so search everywhere!
Yellow Gems: These are also fairly simple to get, and there are also 25 you need to collect. Search until you see a small sparkle on the ground or water. Go over to it and click on the paw button that will pop up to get your yellow gem! Each yellow gem gives you +5 experience.
Blue Gems: For blue gems, I'd suggest you pick up water every time you come across a water source or as much as possible. Look for an oasis, which looks like a small cracked, dried up pond with dead reeds and grass around it. Go up to the oasis and click on the paw button that will pop up to water it with the watering can you picked up. The blue gem will appear once the oasis is filled with water. The Oasis will give you 10 courage, and
White Gems: As for these, search for a cactus similar to the popular seguaro cactus found in real life. The cactus you are looking for should have shining gold bird's feet imprinted on the very top of the cactus. Once you find one of these cacti, make your eagle sit on the top. A white gem will appear at the base of the cactus for you to retrieve.
Purple Gems: If you want to get the purple gems, you can forget about getting all the other gems. Getting the purple gems will sap tons if not all of your limited time. You need four jammers exactly to get the purple gems, any number lower than that won't work. You and your team have to find an arched stone like thing with four places on it. The one you want will have four shining gold bird's feet on the four places. All four eagles must sit on the rock. An arrow will appear showing you the way to fly next. Follow the direction the arrow is taking you with the arrow keys, this will take you to the next stone. You have to sit on five stones to get one purple gem. After that, you have to search for the stone with the shining golden claws again and repeat. You have to sit on 25 rocks and search for 5 golden claw rocks. The golden claws found on the stone are the same as the ones found on top of the cactus you use for white gem hunting. Though you may have heard rumors of the purple gems giving you rare spikes once you got all five of them, this isn't true. The truth is this: The purple gem's prize does have 0 % chance of giving you a horrible item, but it doesn't always give you the best items either. Sometimes it could be an OK rare like rare bat wings, or an excellent rare like a rare spike. I would suggest you just bypass the purple gems altogether and go for every other gem. The white gems are the most likely to give you rares, and so far the most likely to give you rare spikes. (My friend got a rare spike collar from white gems, and I got a rare spike wrist from white gems).
TIPS/RUMORS:
There is a rumor beginning to spread that opening the chests in the ' The Forgotten Desert ' adventure will cause you to get bad prizes from the gems. I can tell you from experience that this isn't true. Fellow jammers (as well as myself), are guessing that this rumor came to being after a jammer was tired of his companions opening chests as they usually cause large amounts of lag on already laggy computers. This ends up with the jammer not being able to get as many gems because his eagle companions are busy fighting off lag. The rumor most likely spread like wildfire because the gem prizes are not always the best. Usually you get around 3 bad store bought items and a rare. If you're lucky you'll get something like a spike or a good rare. Don't trust this rumor-I opened plenty of chests and on that same adventure I won a short black rare spike wrist, which you can still see on my jammer. (If I don't trade it away). As I've said for a few things, animal jam would not add this feature to the adventure. If they did, they would put something in their blog hinting at it.
A tip for playing this adventure is this: If you are just starting out in the adventure and haven't played it much before, play with at least one other friend that has played the game plenty of times. Keep playing until you have memorized where all the areas are and where to find gems. Once you have played the game enough, you should be able to play the adventure single player and get a reasonable amount of gems. I just recently tried playing single player, and got every gem except the purples with three minutes to spare. Not bad, eh? :)
Another tip is this: Try to limit talking with any friends or other people you are doing the adventure with. This wastes precious time. If you need water for an oasis, look at your map. See if there is a water source nearby. If you are in an especially dry area that requires oasis watering, you can ask a friend or partner to bring water though that would probably take more time than just going straight out to search for water.
Don't play this adventure if you have to leave soon in real life. Your friend or partner may be relying on you to help them with this. Also, only play this adventure if you are sure you won't have to be saying BRB throughout the adventure. Make sure everything is good to go and you have no plans-you will need at least 15-17 minutes free for this adventure each time you play.
If you get bad prizes from all the gems, don't worry. There is no trick to getting better items, you just have to keep playing. The white gems generally give out rares (yes, including spikes), but this does not always mean they will give out rares every time. Don't give up and keep playing that adventure!
Hope this helps and happy adventuring!
Thx

ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome! I played Animal Jam for several years so I just made this blog as a compilation of everything I learned from playing.
